Larissa was friendly, professional and helpful. She suggested I make a substantial change to the plot of my story which would make it more appealing to agents. I havenÃt decided yet whether I will follow her advice but I understood her reasoning and it gave me a lot to think about. She also pointed out other issues that I hadnÃt considered previously. Not to say that her feedback was all negative ó I felt that she appreciated and understood what I had presented in my query letter and that she basically liked my ideas. It was an incredibly productive fifteen minutes! No matter which direction I go in IÃm sure both the query and the manuscript will be stronger because of the consultation. I have only good things to say about my consultation with Alyssa Jennette. A nice balance between compliments and specific, clearly personalized, constructive suggestions. I felt Alyssa ìgotî my novel more than any other agent IÃve spoken with, so she seems like she mightÃve been the ideal agent for me, except, sadly, sheÃs closed to queries.

My meeting with Fiona was very helpful. She nailed exactly what was missing from my first pages and query letter and articulated it in a way that sparked ideas and a course of action. I can see how I can integrate her advice as it was quite specific about what aspects of my first pages and query to put more, or less, emphasis on. I signed up for this consult knowing my query letter wasn’t delivering the punch I wanted. In the fifteen minutes we had together Jenissa broke it down for me pinpointing my weaknesses but also showing me how to fix them – while being friendly and encouraging the entire time.
