Feedback And Reviews
Larissa was nice and helpful. She’s my dream agent!

Despite my asking for a “harsh” critique, Hannah was kind as well as helpful. She gave me positive feedback and pointed out specifically how I could “increase the stakes” for my protagonist in my query. She answered all my questions with patience and insider insights.
Katie was great. She answered all my questions about the industry and agents’ expectations. She also gave me some fresh ideas for my blurb. I have implemented all her suggestions and am in the process of querying agents. I have more hope than ever that I will find someone to help me break into traditional publishing!
My consultation with Kaitlyn was so much more than I expected. She tightened up my query letter and provided invaluable suggestions to improve my manuscript. What an incredible session!!!
Caitlin provided good feedback on my query, telling me what worked and what needed work. This helped me realize that sometimes one must sacrifice some important element of the story to make the query easier to digest, if there is not enough room for context that important element calls for.
Carina Licon is most of all kind. She addressed problems with my query while also highlighting things she thought were the most impactful. She gave tangible suggestions for how to set up the query better. Ms. Licon was organized in her thoughts on my first 10 pages. She used every last second. It was helpful hearing what she found strong and what jumped out to her. She thoughtfully addressed strengths and weaknesses in those pages. I’m really glad I did this and am very grateful I picked her since she worked hard to get me to see things from the editor’s perspective.
Kayla’s insights were so helpful in fine-tuning my manuscript! She dove into key issues to ensure the protagonist and setting truly resonate with the reader. I’m so grateful for her thoughtful feedback!

Renee Fountain provided a critique of my query letter and the first ten pages of my manuscript. Her feedback was concise and insightful. She provided very specific examples of how to fix my work. She’s straightforward, professional and she’s not afraid to push you toward a better finished product. Cannot recommend her enough!
BiBi was very approachable and helpful. She was specific in the things she liked about my query letter and sample pages, and also about the few things she thought I’d benefit from tweaking. Even down to a single word, in one case. (The word was “intrigued,” fyi.) I appreciate her thoughtful feedback. Those 15 minutes flew by, though, so I’m glad I came prepared!
I did three Manuscript Academy sessions over the course of about 18 months with Linda Camacho. In our first session, she helped me get my query letter and first pages ready for querying. Ultimately, I received 14 full requests from agents and 3 full requests from publishers. That was followed by two agent offers and an offer from a small press before I contacted my other outstanding submissions and ended up querying journey. I also had two calls with Linda during the querying process to analyze my options and chart out a path for my future. In addition to being knowledgeable about the industry, Linda is kind and enthusiastic and made me feel like she was invested in my journey. She went out of her way to make time for me when I had a deadline to make a decision. I simply cannot say enough good things about Linda and my experience working with her through Manuscript Academy!
Blair was well-prepared for our meeting and offered great feedback and advice. She was very optimistic about the potential for my work and I’ve started incorporating her notes already.
Thanks so much!
Katharine was terrific. I had a hard time keeping up with my notes she gave so many specific suggestions for my query letter and first chapter. Iím working on a memoir and she was graciously sensitive to the subject matter while still giving pointed feedback on the execution. She was exactly what I needed and both are so much better in the rewrite.
