Feedback And Reviews
I had a 10 min zoom meeting for my query letter with Molly Cusick. She was the most generous and kind person you can possibly ask for. I was at ease right away because of her friendly interaction. She gave me so many meaning full and practical feedback that I literary had two full page of note in just the 10 min. She allowed me to ask many questions, and responded very honest yet with care. I got so much out of this short session, and truly learned how to improve my query letter. Thank you Molly and M.Academy for this great opportunity. It went beyond my expectation!

My consultation with Jennifer was a game-changer! Her feedback helped me see my first 10 pages with fresh eyes, letting me know where I was on target and what needed work. My time with her was worth every penny. Highly recommend!

It was great. The advice was fantastic.

Molly was wonderful!! She was kind, approachable, specific in her suggestions, and very encouragingóin a genuine-non-syrupy way. She even offered the opportunity for a follow-up question by email. How generous!
P.S. Itís pronounced /Cueí-sick/. I asked!

Kayla was amazing. In 10 minutes she teased out my theme, structure and work needed to move my MS forward. Fantastic experience.

Fantastic consultation. Advice clear, insightful, and helpful. Highly recommend.

Hannah was professional and organized in her advice concerning my query. She used specific points to make it stronger and hopefully more appealing for busy agents to read. I appreciated her time and thought she was a lovely person to talk with. I would highly recommend seeking a consultation with her.
I originally booked one appointment with Amy to review my query letter and first ten pages. I wound up booking an additional 10 minute consultation just for the query, based on her initial feedback. Amy gave me some good advice. I wound up incorporating my first chapter into the second and starting my novel at a different point then originally planned.
In regard to my query letter, Amy let me know that the first 3 sentences where told from the part of the male character, where the story was told by the female character which she found confusing. I revised that in addition to changing my opening teaser sentence based on her opinion.
Amy showed me how less is more. I included too many plot heavy details that she said an agent would be able to determine without having them spelled out. I shortened my query and went back and made edits on my manuscript with this advise in mind.
In summary, I think Amy’s advice helped me create a more impactful query letter and manuscript. I think the Manuscript Academy offers a great service by giving authors access to agents. My caution to writers is that the time goes quickly so have your questions/concerns written down ahead of time.

Melissa was very helpful. She pointed out which sentences were unclear and how to condense and change the order of some of it. I took her advice and sent out 8 new queries. Two days later I had a partial request from one of them!

My 10-min consultation with Jessica was so helpful! She was super easy to talk to and asked right off the bat how I wanted to use our time together. She answered questions about my query letter, pitching and where the story was going. She brainstormed with me and helped me figure out how to best get my intended message across. I canít recommend it enough!!!

I am grateful for Samantha Weksteinís insight. In ten minutes, she welcomed my questions first and then provided me the feedback she planned to share after reading my query. She let me know areas of the query that confused her, encouraged me to add more detail to the second paragraph about the bookís summary, invited me to add another paragraph for the storyís content to tell enough about the project, made a couple of minor edits, and told me to be specific about why I selected her that goes beyond ìper your manuscript wish listî since she knows whatís on her wish list. I need to highlight in the first paragraph what it is about my book I think will interest her. My advice to other writers is to be certain you come with a list of your own questions, but not too many. Also, know that ten minutes is plenty of time to listen to the feedback to help inform the next revision. In hindsight, I regretted not recording the conversation on my handheld recorded. Writing the notes in the moment was messy; I spent the next thirty minutes rewriting my notes. Exceptional feedback and experience.

Fiona Kenshole is just as marvelous one-on-one as in her talks and interviews. In my 15-minute session I received a nice dose of validation, good ideas for revising my story to serve my publication goals, and advice on strengthening my query letter. As soon as my time was over, I started planning what manuscript to bring to her next!
