Feedback And Reviews
Molly was very professional and kind in our consultation. She spent time on both my query letter and ten pages and provided insightful feedback that greatly improved my material. She was also happy to answer publishing and marketing questions about my genre. Highly recommend!
I am so grateful for Hannah! She validated so many feelings and concerns (positive things and challenges alike) I had about my project and helped me understand why things did or didnít work. I appreciated her enthusiasm for my project and all her support.
Ericaís query critique was extremely helpful! Her positivity was so encouraging, and her specific feedback gave me targeted points to tweak in my query as I move forward in the query trenches. Very thankful for the opportunity to meet with her!
Anjanette looked at my query letter and gave me some great suggestions. She pointed out which sentences made her ask questions (a good thing, she said) and the ones that arenít clear. Queries are short and canít have any redundant information and she pointed out parts I didnít need. I appreciate her advice and canít wait to improve my query some more.
Caitlin’s critique was so, so insightful. Not only did her critiques help me see where my pages needed work, her review also helped instill the confidence I needed to finish my revision. Best money I’ve spent in a while.
Alyssa helped a lot in unsnarling the knots of my query letter and supporting my first pages. She’s also very friendly, put me at ease, and knowledgeable. Thanks Alyssa.
I just had a 10 page/15 minute consultation with Melissa. Her comments were direct and extremely helpful. I left the meeting with a much better understanding of how the process works from an agent’s perspective. She didn’t waste a moment. I know exactly what I need to do to improve my query and pages, and I now feel confident with my query package. I highly recommend Melissa!
I just had a 10 page/15 minute consultation with Alyssa. She is wonderful. She’s straightforward, clear and concise. I sent seven pages of my manuscript and three pages of my synopsis, which was the perfect combination. She went over my synopsis in detail and found the holes I knew were there but couldn’t find on my own. I’m so grateful for her observations and guidance. I know exactly what I need to do now.
I highly recommend Alyssa. I never felt rushed, which was so appreciated. She’s very thorough and you can tell she genuinely wants to help. I got much more than I hoped for!
Kelly was generous, detailed, specific, and eager to brainstorm solutions. I appreciated the practical recommendations she offered. As a writer, I personally appreciated how she listened and asked follow up questions. She wasn’t stuck on script, but wanted to be a partner in craft even in the limited moment that we were working together.
Fiona put her wonderful, insightful, razor sharp eye to my manuscript and and challenged me to work towards the best version of my story. With kindness, with care, a smile and above all, a love for children’s literature. I feel braver and better and so will my book, thanks to Fiona’s guidance.
Alyssa gave me firm, helpful feedback that makes me feel more confident going into another round of queries. The advice is perfect to help me moving forward with other projects in the future, as well! Absolutely worth it.
Thank you Jessica and Julie for your request for feedback. I am happy to share my experience was extremely rewarding. I met with Erica Bauman for a ten-minute consultation regarding my debut novel, ìEscape of the Swamp Girlsî.
I received a timely email prior as an opportunity to share any discussion points so that time would be efficiently managed, a very thoughtful gesture.
As a new writer and from a nonliterary back ground, I found the style and content of the consultation very approachable. In fact, the information was shared in a manner quite familiar to me as a physician leader. With healthcare improvements, we strive to make interventions through ìSMARTî goals. Erica did just that.
Erica was specific (S) as to my concerns (commercial viability for concept, genre refinement, voice improvement). She provided measurable (M) ways to gauge my progress (step by step for how to narrow the narrative distance for the YA audience). She provided achievable (A) means for success (suggested content-targeted publishers, the must do close of narrative distance and to keep up the good pacing and intriguing concepts). She explained the relevance (R) of certain aspects of the writing and publishing process. Finally, the time bound (T) nature of this industry requires one to work hard and be dedicated and prepared. The ten minutes we shared was a master class in how to share and reap as much as possible in a small window of time.
I feel much better prepared as I travel along my writing journey. Please share these thoughts in any way you deem helpful. I will add that writers really need to think about not what they want to say but what they need to hear. Time with a content expert is a rare and precious thing, treat it as such as you will be rewarded.
Keep up the fabulous work and services.
Sincerely yours,
Jill Williams
