Testimonials And Reviews
Testimonials always praise the person, but Emmy really is a great teacher/facilitator. She’s fun and vibrant, and has a ton of experience and knowledge which she shares without stint.

I met twice with Fiona Kenshole about my query. Twice because my first attempt was underwhelming and its make over flew over the top. Fiona reined me in to be pithy not patheticó Iím now sensing Iím closing in on it. She was concise, interested, and hilarious throughout both meetings so, if youíre looking for the experienced opinion of an honest agent, Fiona is the person I suggest you turn to.

Renee Fountain really cares about helping aspiring authors! She was honest and provided good examples of how I can improve my first page as well as my query letter. Thank you, Manuscript Academy, for making the interaction with publishing professionals possible for dreamers like me!

Dani offered clear comments on my first ten pages (including the easy but important fix that delaying one line for a couple of paragraphs intensified the chapter’s emotional impact). She understood what I was trying to do, and that was hugely validating. She also answered a couple general questions about publishing. I appreciated her kind, insightful feedback.

Katharine Sands, You could not have anyone better to look at and critique your work. She is very easy to talk with and extremely knowledgeable in the art of writing and can give you good constructive criticism of your work to put you on the right path, so you have the best chance of getting read by an agent, publisher, and she knows what readers want to hold their interest. I found her suggestions invaluable. I have started to implement everything she suggested into my work, knowing I have a lot of rewrite to do in certain areas. I believe I will have a much better book I can be proud of when finished, people will want to read. With a better chance of getting a deal to publish. I say chance because we all know how hard it is, especially if you are unknown. If you listen to Katharine, she will give you the key to having your best chance. It still comes down to your writing and your ability to connect, both in writing and being able to communicate what you have written. She can’t write it for you. LoL. With Katharine’s expertise. She would be a Dream Agent. My suggestion, look at her video Pitch to Page a couple of times if you do nothing else. If you can book her to look at some of your work, either critique or consultation. Do it, don’t even think about it.

Kayla was so helpful. She went over our time limit to help me with my query.

Hannah was so incredibly helpful. Super knowledgeable, efficient with our time, and very prepared while still being open to new questions that arose from the conversation. One thing I appreciated in particular was that she clearly spent time reading the pages. The feedback was specific in a way that could only be if the reader really considered the writing. Highly recommend.
The feedback Bibi gave me helped change the way I think about my writing. By implementing what she suggested, I made my work richer and more engaging. It was also super helpful to have a quick discussion about when “telling” is okay. I’m so grateful to her–thank you, Bibi!

My consult with Renee was fantastic! It was clear from the moment I met her that I was not just another number in her queue. She was so kind and gave me *really* helpful feedback. I definitely plan on meeting with her again once I work out some of the kinks in my query/ms. Iíve loved all the consults Iíve had so far, but Renee is so on top of her work. I rate her 10/10.

Savannah was fabulous! She gave me indispensable feedback that really helped me with my story. She was very professional, but also made sure to through in kind comments to keep the feedback from feeling too overwhelming. I would highly recommend her!

Emmy was absolutely wonderful! They were kind, thoughtful, and helped me feel 100% at ease. They answered all the questions I had and didnít rush me. They exceeded my expectations. If youíre thinking about choosing Emmy for a consult, DO IT.

Fiona is a gem.
Especially if you work with MG. I sent her my query letter and immediately put her comments into play because she’s very comprehensible and concise. She explained what and why additions or subtractions were needed, smiled no matter how many times I interrupted with a question, and answered from her POV as reader and marketer. WE might hate the marketing side, but the stronger our pitches, queries, etc., the stronger our writing. Oh, and (thank goodness) Fiona laughs a lot.
If you’ve not watched her class “How To Edit Without Losing Your Voice” you really ought to because she provides a strong sense of direction and you’ll most likely feel better about what you’ve probably spent a lifetime working on–then you’ll immediately pull out an old version of your manuscript to remind yourself why you started it in the first place!
