Engaging and Friendly Query Feedback
John Cusick offered thoughtful feedback on my middle grade fantasy first page. He was engaging and friendly (i.e. not scary). As a writer himself, I appreciated his editing notes. If you’re lucky enough to get an opportunity for a consult with him, grab it.

Spot-On Structural Story Advice
Fiona was spot-on with her comments about my MG book, “Lockbox.” She made a comment that it should be a screenplay and the funny thing is … it was a screenplay and then I made it into a book as well! She pointed out that I needed to keep the book more about the main protagonist which, of course, trigged a rewrite for the book.
I appreciate all of you giving us writers the opportunity to get us in front of agents and editors. It only makes us better writers.

Detailed and Respectful Editorial Feedback
I had a wonderful consultation with Molly Cusick! I paid for three ten-minute consultations, and they were worth every penny. She told me line by line what worked and what did not–and why–and all her feedback was very kindly and respectfully given. She was very knowledgeable about the children’s publishing market and had even researched the comps I used in my queries so she could give me feedback on them. I will definitely seek her advice again.

Honest and Encouraging Manuscript Feedback
Fiona Kenshole was so great to work with. I had a 30 minute phone call with her (30 page read- which was actually my entire MG nonfiction manuscript). She told me exactly what I needed to work on and she didnít sugar coat anything. But, she still left me feeling hopeful and optimistic about my book. She gave great advice and l now have a good idea of the steps I need to take to improve my manuscript. I loved working with her, and Iím so glad I chose her for my critique.

Specific and Actionable First Page Edits
I had a great session with Linda! She showed up prepared to talk about my first pages, and she gave me some very specific work to do on pages 2-3. I had worried the session would feel too short and rushed, but it wasn’t like that at all. I left feeling really confident that I could make these small changes and be in great shape to start querying. I would definitely book another session with Linda or someone else at Manuscript Academy again!
