Feedback And Reviews
Query Questions
Last week I had a 10 minute review of my query letter with Bridget Smith. She was pleasant, kind, funny, and most of all very helpful. The time goes super fast and she packed a lot of great tips into it. She told me what not to change, what wasn’t needed, and what to beef up a bit. Though we only talked about my query letter, her comments have me thinking of ways to better my pitch and synopsis as well. Very happy with how it went. Thanks, Bridget.

From “Okay” to Outstanding!
Emma gave me an amazing written critique on the first 50 pages of my vampire/witch romantacy. She gave me suggestions and shared her insight to improve every page, and to take the pages to the next level! I can’t thank her enough for her kind words and helpful comments. I highly recommend Emma for her talent and real interest in my project.

5 star experience
It’s my first time seeking out critique from industry in preparation for stepping into the query trenches so I had the typical apprehension of stepping into the unknown. There are so many avenues for aspiring authors to shell out money for services, unregulated and no guarantee of outcome value.
Fortunately, the critique feedback I received was satisfactory beyond my uneducated expectations. It was encouraging, thorough, and most importantly, actionable.

Super valuable insights!
I went into the “why am I getting rejected” critique not knowing what to expect, whether it’d be worth the time/money, etc., but it was SUPER VALUABLE! Savannah had some great insights into what I could improve and helped me understand more what’s going on in the industry right now. Well worth the time and money. I highly recommend Savannah!
Her pinpoint accuracy was what I needed
Renée was the antidote to my illness. Her pinpoint accuracy in identifying problem areas in my query and first ten pages was the insight and course correction I needed to fix my writing. She was personable, perceptive, and pragmatic, and had a wonderful sense of humor. I’ve since started following her on social media—she is a wealth of information and has become a part of my “everything about writing” diet.

Extremely helpful consultation
I truly appreciated Renée Fountain’s insightful and direct feedback. Whenever I go into consultations, I am always open to feedback about what’s working and what isn’t. I finally feel that my opening pages are where they need to be, after this extremely helpful consultation.

Excellent 50-page critique
I got a 50-page critique from Renee Fountain. It was excellent. I feel like she told me exactly what was holding back my manuscript. Now I am redoing the whole thing from the ground up, and I think when I finish the plot will be much faster moving and the voice will be so much stronger.

Honest and encouraging
I had a fantastic ten-minute query consultation with Renee Fountain. She offered targeted, actionable feedback on my query, including ideas for making it more succinct and effective. She answered my questions honestly and provided words of encouragement about my efforts. Renee offers such a wealth of expertise and the ten minutes with her was absolutely worth it.

Patient and Professional
Renee patiently read through three iterations of my book’s prologue and each time helped me to further fine tune what I needed to say, in fewer words. She was on time with her assessments and always professional.

Exactly what I needed!
Natalie gave incredibly helpful and constructive feedback on my query, going through it section by section. It was exactly what I needed! She was extremely generous with answering my questions, too.

Strongly recommend!
Molly Cusick provided thoughtful and patient query feedback. Her editorial skills were clearly apparent as she helped me with specific improvements and guidance, enabling me to craft a more impactful and compelling letter.
I felt heard and respected
I almost didn’t show up for my consultation with Molly because earlier that week, I’d received some feedback that my piece needed a whole lot of work (like a troubling, humiliating amount of work). So, when I met with her, I was so relieved when she started the conversation by asking what I hoped to gain from our conversation. I was honest and said I really needed to know when to let something go and how identify the next project to query when I have several others I’m passionate about. Her kindness, openness and straightforward nature left me feeling heard and respected, not just as a writer, but as a human. She could so easily have blasted me for the piece I wrote. Instead, she offered invaluable advice that I will take forward from here.
