Mastering Industry Standards in Queries
Caitlin was wonderful! She reviewed my query with me and gave me great insight into how to integrate “industry standard” pieces, such as comps. We also discussed how important specificity is in a query and she helped me identify places where my language was vague. She was a great manager of time, making sure to leave enough time for me to ask questions at the end after sharing her thoughts. I am excited to rework my query and think it will be stronger thanks to her advice.

Astute Feedback on First Pages
I was so happy to get Kayla Lightner’s take on the first ten pages of my novel. She offered really astute insights and suggestions. I was concerned that what I was trying to create, in terms of the voice, was not on key, and Kayla provided more than the feedback I needed. Her comments were clear, which of course was helpful–but on top of that she was warm and encouraging. My only regret is that the conversation couldn’t have lasted longer. It was a delightful fifteen minutes.

Magician with Advice and Insights
At our meeting, Lane Heymont proved himself to be a magician. I filled several pages of notes with his information and insights, yet in the short time he didn’t seem the least bit rushed. He answered questions, addressed my doubts, and in the end was encouraging and patient. From my research, I know he’s a successful agent; but after our meeting, I know he’s a gifted teacher.
