Insightful Video Review Session

My 10 page video review session with Linda Camacho didn’t disappoint. The 15 minutes was packed with actionable feedback. Linda walked me through my pages highlighting things that worked and the areas that I needed to revisit and polish. She has a wisdom about the industry that is immediately evident and I’ve enjoyed working through her notes. The meeting helped improve my pages and I’m so grateful that I scheduled the time.

Specific and Actionable First Page Edits

I had a great session with Linda! She showed up prepared to talk about my first pages, and she gave me some very specific work to do on pages 2-3. I had worried the session would feel too short and rushed, but it wasn’t like that at all. I left feeling really confident that I could make these small changes and be in great shape to start querying. I would definitely book another session with Linda or someone else at Manuscript Academy again!

Provides Specific Manuscript Adjustments

Linda gave me specific suggestions and encouraging remarks. I am LONGING for spring break (I am a high school English teacher) so I can make some adjustments to my manuscript and query. I’m going back to the mat! (In the photo, I’m the one on the left.)

Linda gave me so much insight in such a short amount of time! The ability to see your story from an agent’s eyes tells you so much about what’s working, what’s not, and where to focus your energy. Before chatting with Linda, I was trying to read into form rejections and make wild guesses about why my query wasn’t landing. Even with an awesome critique group and editor, I never could have known about the specific sensitivities within the publishing industry Linda helped me see. Refining My First Chapter

Linda was very kind and had a nice balance of compliments vs. constructive feedback. We talked about why my first page was almost “there” but not quite. I’m excited to re-work my first chapter with her comments in mind! These sessions are such a great resource for writers. I got exactly the feedback I needed for where I am in the process.

Shares Concrete Steps for Revisions

I met with Linda for a 15-minute consultation and 10-page read yesterday. Linda was so helpful, answered all my questions, and offered a tremendous amount of encouragement. I learned a lot from listening to her insights, and she helped me see my writing from a different perspective. I had discrete, actionable steps I could take to improve the pages. She asked great questions, which showed that she had thought about the whole story not just the first ten pages. Exceptional Writing Critique

I highly recommend Linda. Iíve done several versions of critiques and edits on various platforms and Iíve found Linda to be the most engaging with great tips and wonderful insights into my writing and characters I didnít even realize. She was patient and went well past the allotted time. I actually felt bad as 10 minutes became 30 minutes.

I plan on having her critique my next WIP and if my manuscripts were on her MSWL, Iíd absolutely query her. I can tell sheís one of the most engaging people and deeply cares about her authors and friends.

Highly recommend her. Although I want to keep her a secret to myself, I know she can help advance your next steps for your WIP.

Confidence in Manuscript Submission

I recently had a critique with Linda Camacho and I found it to be very helpful. She started by asking background about my story and offered some great insight on my query letter. She helped to confirm the manuscript is ready for submission which I had some doubts about. She asked thoughtful questions about my manuscript while also making sure she addressed any questions I had about the manuscript, the industy etc. I found her comments overall to very insightful. I’d definitely recommend choosing her to critique your manuscript.

I did three Manuscript Academy sessions over the course of about 18 months with Linda Camacho. In our first session, she helped me get my query letter and first pages ready for querying. Ultimately, I received 14 full requests from agents and 3 full requests from publishers. That was followed by two agent offers and an offer from a small press before I contacted my other outstanding submissions and ended up querying journey. I also had two calls with Linda during the querying process to analyze my options and chart out a path for my future. In addition to being knowledgeable about the industry, Linda is kind and enthusiastic and made me feel like she was invested in my journey. She went out of her way to make time for me when I had a deadline to make a decision. I simply cannot say enough good things about Linda and my experience working with her through Manuscript Academy!
