Hannah Strouth, Agent At Sanford J. Greenburger Associates

Before joining Sanford J. Greenburger Associates in 2024, Hannah spent over four years at the Jane Rotrosen Agency. Born and raised in Tennessee, she graduated from the College of William & Mary in Virginia with degrees in English and marketing and attended the Columbia Publishing Course.

Hannah is looking for literary and upmarket fiction, as well as select nonfiction.

In fiction, she gravitates toward nuanced and compelling work that digs deep into a wide range of emotions. She’s automatically drawn to stories that help discover and explore new aspects about people, the way we (dis)connect, what haunts us (literally and metaphorically) and how we confront it, and stories of resiliency.

If you can describe your story as “dark,” “edgy,” or “gritty,” chances are it’s up her alley.

In nonfiction, whether it’s pop culture, narrative, self-help, or memoir, she loves anything that teaches her how to be a better human or look at the world through a fresh lens. Across the board, she’s always looking for diverse voices and experiences.

Ms. Strouth was absolutely incredible. Not only vastly knowledgeable about the industry, but also supportive in such a way that her critiques are still presented in a positive light and do not discourage at all. I cannot recommend her enough, she is absolutely brilliant.

Hannah was professional and organized in her advice concerning my query. She used specific points to make it stronger and hopefully more appealing for busy agents to read. I appreciated her time and thought she was a lovely person to talk with. I would highly recommend seeking a consultation with her.

Despite my asking for a “harsh” critique, Hannah was kind as well as helpful. She gave me positive feedback and pointed out specifically how I could “increase the stakes” for my protagonist in my query. She answered all my questions with patience and insider insights.

Hannah was so incredibly helpful. Super knowledgeable, efficient with our time, and very prepared while still being open to new questions that arose from the conversation. One thing I appreciated in particular was that she clearly spent time reading the pages. The feedback was specific in a way that could only be if the reader really considered the writing. Highly recommend.

I recently had an informative and very satisfying ten-minute live consultation with Agent Hannah Strouth. Hannah provided enthusiastic and positive feedback about my overall query letter, pointing out sentences and sections that worked well and why they worked well. She said she loved how I presented my comps, but noted that they both must be fiction. She offered constructive ideas of where to add more to my plot details, and where to take away from my themes. She liked my bio and shared what it revealed about me and my writing. She told me she could tell I’m an excellent writer–a compliment that goes a long way when you’re in the trenches as a debut novelist. She allowed a couple minutes at the end for me to ask questions, either directly about my query, or in general about my novel. Afterward I felt elated that I was on my way to a strong querying process, thanks to Hannah! I would highly recommend this lovely lady for a consultation.
