Christina Lopez, Editor at St Martin's Press/Macmillan

Christina Lopez is an assistant editor at St. Martin’s Press, where she started as an intern in 2021. Her first love was romance novels (shoutout to Nicholas Sparks), and she is thrilled that her list consists of several incredible romances. In her time at SMP, she has worked on books in a wide array of genres (including women’s/ book club fiction, historical fiction, thriller/ suspense, and romance) and with many amazing authors including Katherine Center and Kristin Hannah.

Christina is passionate about giving a voice to writers of underrepresented backgrounds. She is interested in adult and YA commercial fiction, women’s fiction, historical fiction, romance/rom-com, speculative fiction/ magical realism, and some non-fiction focused on pop culture and narrative stories that read like fiction. She is instantly hooked by character driven stories with layered protagonists; sparkling chemistry; complex relationships; morally gray areas; stories set in a rich culture or history; dynamic and atmospheric settings; and she has a soft spot for bittersweet endings.

She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a double major in English and International Relations. Originally from the sunny border town of El Paso, she currently lives in Austin, Texas where she loves discovering new restaurants, watching reality TV, and spending time with her cat, Nova.
