Alice Speilburg, Agent and Founder of Speilburg Literary

Alice Speilburg is the founding agent of Speilburg Literary and has worked in book publishing for more than a decade. She represents commercial fiction and narrative nonfiction.

Alice’s first editing gig was on the news desk of her college daily, and she is still drawn to compelling nonfiction stories, especially those written by journalists, that deepen our understanding of culture and society, including Cultural Narratives, Gender Issues, Microhistory, Nature Narratives, and Pop Science. In fiction, she is a lifelong fan of historical adventures, mysteries and suspense novels, and fantasy based on myths and legends. She loves a complete immersion read that takes her to another world through the eyes of original characters.

Prior to launching Speilburg Literary, Alice worked at John Wiley & Sons, and Howard Morhaim Literary Agency. Throughout her career, she has worked with bestselling and award-winning authors, literary and professional societies, and branded content. Alice is a member of the Association of American Literary Agents, as well as several writing organizations, and spends her weekends hiking with her husband and two sons.

Member Reviews of Alice

My meeting with Alice went well. She is kind, encouraging, gives positive feedback on both my errors and what Iím doing well. I was also able to discuss a revision of chapters. Afterwards, I felt motivated to rewrite my query and revise my manuscript. Alice Speilburg is a 10 out of 10 in my book.

Thanks to Jessica and Julie for the wonderful community and resources that they’ve built at The Manuscript Academy!
After experiencing my first live Query and Pages Panel, I met with agent Alice Speilburg of Speilburg Literary Agency for a ten-minute in-person consultation. Alice was kind, approachable, and very generous with her time, providing me with thoughtful insights and actionable advice on my query. Taking this next step has motivated me to rework my query and get back to the trenches with more confidence. Thank you, Alice!
