Craft
Editing, Character, Voice
Manuscripts are vetted at so many levels. They pass from the eyes of agents to editors to marketing to sales, and while there are some variables outside of the writer’s control, craft is not one of them. We’ll show you how to improve these soft skills in the following classes.
Business
Improve your chances in the industry
Literary agents are always on a treasure hunt. But few writers know what it takes to make agents yell at first glance: “Eureka, I’ve struck gold!” And a first glance is all that most writers will get before the agent moves on without ever reading further. Learn about the business of publishing with these classes.
Writing For Children
Classes for those writing picture books, middle grade and/or YA
Ever thought about writing picture books, middle grade, or YA? The children's publishing market is enormous--but each age group comes with its unique challenges. These classes will help you on your journey to inspiring the imaginations of the next generation of readers.
Adult Fiction & Nonfiction

Writing adult fiction or nonfiction? Whether it's romance, thrillers, or prescriptive nonfiction, each genre comes with its own challenges and advantages. Here, you'll learn how to best leverage your position for marketplace success--and our agents and editors are here to help you every step of the way.
Live
Panels, Q&A's, and Live-Recorded Events
From first pages panels to live Q&A's, this section gives you the interactive feel of a live event--that you can watch when it's convenient for you. For fresh perspectives, unfiltered discourse, and answers to your burning questions, this is the section for you.
Meetings are posted once a month, at the beginning of each month–usually the first Wednesday. You can always check the schedule here: https://manuscriptacademy.com/welcome#calendar
As a member, you get a 24-hour head start to book the most sought-after meetings. Many of our faculty members sell out after that time, so if you can, do book as soon as possible each month.
Not sure which faculty member is right for you? We can help! Please fill out the form here, and we’ll do our best: https://manuscriptacademy.com/concierge
Gold members: Please note that your monthly meeting codes will only work in the member booking system: https://manuscriptacademy.com/member-booking-system.
If the booking system comes up blank, that means you’re not logged in. Tips for logging in are available at the top of this page.
Prefer written notes to a live conversation? Too busy to find a time to meet? Written critiques are for you. You’ll receive both line and overall notes from the faculty member of your choice.
Critiques will be delivered to your email within 24 hours of the date on the calendar.
Having trouble with the booking system? Most likely, your faculty member is sold out for the month, or you need to scroll up. Neither of those? Send us an email and we’ll help: Academy@ManuscriptWishList.com.

We’re delighted to offer a variety of live events with agents and editors. Many are editorial feedback panels–submit your work for a chance of feedback–plus Q&A, fun, and a community learning experience (many also meet their critique partners through the text chat on the side!).
No one will be able to see you, so no need to dress up–though we do recommend that you keep snacks ready.
As a member, all live events are included with your membership. Your complimentary ticket will arrive at noon NYC time the day of each event. The link to send your work (if applicable) will arrive in your inbox once you’ve checked in.
Please note that it’s always smart to check in early–both to make sure that you don’t need tech help, and to meet other writers in the chat.
If the events space comes up blank, that means you’re not logged in. Tips for logging in are available at the top of this page.
